What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a way of solving personal problems using a relaxed state of mind.

It is a naturally occurring altered state of awareness that we experience several times a day.  Have you ever been absorbed in a book or film and realised that an hour has passed, or driven a journey and can’t remember the actual drive?  These are common trance states where you have simply switched off and drifted away. Hypnosis is similar to daydreaming, you just have to sit back and relax.  It is when we are in this relaxed state that we may become suggestible, and we can use this state to conduct therapy and make lasting changes. Hypnosis has been around for hundreds of years and was first used in the sleep temples of the ancient Greeks.

Modern Hypnotherapy has come a long way and has sometimes been overlooked because of the unethical antics of stage hypnotists.  It was accepted by the British Medical Association in 1955 as a valid medical treatment.  More and more people are using Hypnotherapy as a different and effective way of helping resolve personal issues.
Hypnotherapy isn’t just ‘band aid’ therapy and deals with the root of the problem. In therapy sessions I aim to teach you skills that will benefit you for years to come.

Hypnotherapy is safe and effective, read about my training and professional code of ethics HERE.
